Secret to Realizing Success on Your New Job
By Barigye Doreen
Getting started….
You have seized what
you thought was the job of your dreams. Each phase of the interview went well –
you sold them on your talents and expertise, and your prospective supervisor
sold you on the position and paybacks of joining the firm. He/she seemed
thrilled about extending an offer. And then, with an offer in hand, it was
exhilarating to give your notice (or tell your friends you’re finally employed
after a long spell of joblessness!). All seemed awesome with your world.
You have now been on
board a few days, a week, perhaps even a month. All of a sudden you are not so
sure you’ve made the right choice. The job that seemed like a dream is
beginning to feel like a nightmare. Perhaps the spot isn’t what you thought it
would be; it’s either too narrow, too wide, not exciting enough, or more of a
stretch than you thought. Maybe the company isn’t gauging up. Or, perhaps your
supervisor isn’t the helpful, supportive mentor you supposed he/she would be.
In fact, most new
employees, at one time or another, have been faced with this dilemma. To help
you deliberate through your next courses of action and determine what’s right
for you, here are some questions you may want to ask yourself: Is it just the
freshness of the job? Changing jobs can be a disturbing experience. So think
about these critical questions;
1. Can you live with your
new superior?
2. Can you circumnavigate work politics?
3. What will you learn if
you stay in this new job?
4.
If
the scope of the job has changed, can it be renegotiated? And Four; Are you
ready to cope with the many new challenges?
It is very critical to
appreciate the value of getting the right foot on the new job right from day
one. It is factual that the first impressions go along way. The performance of the entrant in his new
assignment makes a greater impression on both the employer and the employee.
Here are the
strategies for realizing accomplishment in your newly acquired job:
- Diligent
work rewards greater surpluses. There is no short cut for attaining success in
new jobs. The sure essential is to trek your path up in the hierarchy of
victory.
- Being
prompt will give a sign of good discipline. It is always prudent to reach a
little early to work, as this will aid settle down before beginning the day’s
work. This also shows the seriousness of the new employee.
- An effective person in his assignment does not spoil himself in the politics of
the office, or gossip. Observation and heeding others are very important in
studying the job accurately and excellently. These traits are perceived in
successful people in their jobs.
- It
is also good to show interest in the new assignment. If not understood well,
it’s okay to enquire for info or guidance from the colleagues or from the
superior himself.
- Keeping
yourself neat and the workplace tidy will portray how organized you are.
Staying a little while after work hours can do this. You can scribble down the
actions to be done the next day, without the distress of forgetting stuff.
- It
is always virtuous to revere the hierarchy or cable of command; everyone has to
report to someone other than him. Objectors do not survive in the longer run.
The organization’s mission, objectives, and goals need to be recognized to the
employee to work on the lines of the objectives of the business.
- Copying
fast with the new job is very imperative. Lest you become the abnormal one out.
For instance, the dress code should be followed according to the rules and
regulations of the company. Also, it is upright to find out how the business is
done, if it is the formal way or the informal and way to follow thus.

big questions honestly, you will assuredly make the right verdict for you. Pay
care to how you’re feeling and what the job is doing to your career life and

add the job to your resume. Know that it’s always a choice to stay and look for

to mention that the decision to stay or leave an intolerable new job is a
tough one. How long to stay, is also a quandary. Many have quit after two
weeks, never to look back. Others have held fort, only to regret staying too
long. And still, others have stayed and managed to make everything work out,
tremendously. Only and only you can decide what’s best for you and your new
treasured job.

common logic and the desire to thrive, by following the above strategies, one

fresh job is not attained just in a day or months, but it will begin working
towards success from day one.
